Wishing you a peaceful and happy New Year and may it be a really healthy one for you. As a new year begins, we usually enter it with hope and anticipation. What will the next twelve months bring? Many of us make resolutions or choose a word to depict how we would like the coming year to unfold.
I stopped making resolutions a number of years ago, as I found that by the time February came, I had long abandoned hope of following through on my usually unrealistic resolution, or else I had forgotten what the original resolution was.
The last few years I have been choosing a word to represent what I wanted to bring into my life. Often this word morphs into something else from what I had originally expected, and becomes something much more powerful. Don’t you love the Universe!
Last year my word was ‘Opportunity’ and I saw the year as an opportunity to grow my creative business. I did release a second edition of my book, ‘True Essence: Finding your authentic self without compromise,’ created some more meditations on Insight Timer and closed my Reflexology business. However my main focus became my health.
What I had envisioned as an opportunity for my creativity, turned out to be an opportunity to look deep inside and re-evaluate what was really important in my life. I had a few challenges with some gut issues that required lots of tests, patience and self care. I am much better now but months of ongoing issues, resulted in some serious introspection.
I realised that extreme self care was needed and I am now honouring my body in many different ways – in my thoughts and self talk, the food I eat, the exercise I do, the boundaries I put around myself and the people I choose to surround myself with. I am also learning to accept, love and celebrate myself even more, for who I am.
So instead of choosing a word for this year, I have decided to choose a ‘feeling’ of what I want to bring into my life. This feeling is Joy. I want to find joy in more aspects of my life. To do things that ignite my passions. To have more fun. To find joy in the simple things, even smelling the roses in my garden. To be more present so that the precious moments don’t pass me by.
What are you going to choose this year? Will it be a word or like me, will you choose a feeling?
Life is unexpected and although we can plan, we can’t control everything. Be open to change, no matter how hard and remember the feeling or word that you chose. Sometimes the things we have envisioned don’t eventuate in quite the way that we expected. But often the outcome is so much more exciting.
Wishing you a peaceful and happy New Year and may you find joy, fulfilment and growth in all that unfolds for you.
Wth love,
Judy xxx
