What does this New Year hold for you? Do you have plans or do you just let the days unfold, come what may?

Many of us make resolutions or choose a word to describe what we would like the New Year to bring. Some people decide to lose weight, get fit, travel more or change careers. Others choose words such as Freedom, Creativity, Success, Joy.

This year I have decided to start my year with a Feeling. A feeling of how I want the next twelve months to be. I gave up on resolutions many years ago, as by the time February had arrived, I had forgotten the promises I had made to myself.

Usually I choose a word that embodies how I want the New Year to be but this year, neither felt right. So I’m going with a feeling of what I would like this year to bring. To me, a work-life balance is very important and also freedom.

In the past I have always maintained an aura of busyness. If I wasn’t working with clients, I was working on my business. I rarely had some ‘down time’ except on weekends and holidays. I always ‘felt’ as if I should be doing something. After all, society rewards those who are busy!

How wrong is this! The best ideas and creations come from a feeling of space and freedom. It’s when we stop that chatter in our minds, that the best, most magical inventions come to fore. It’s time to let go of the paradigm of busyness.

One of the main pillars of health is Rest and that doesn’t mean just a good night’s sleep. We need to allow our bodies to heal, to reduce stress and to prevent all its’ consequences. I’m determined to include more rest days into my life, maybe days of reading, or physically resting, or days that I spend in nature.

I plan to create a feeling of space and freedom and I know that days without agendas or obligations will help create that.

What does this New Year hold for you? Is it more of the same or do you have ideas and plans to make this year different and more aligned with your values? You don’t have to have some grand life-changing venture in mind, although that’s okay if you do. Just start with one idea, one different thing that you can create and bring into your life.

A New Year holds so many opportunities and possibilities. Grab them with both hands and have fun. After all we only have one life. Make yours one of creation and adventure and take those steps to try something new.

I sincerely wish you a very Happy New Year.

With love,

Judy xxx
